Within the Loudest Silence is a co-memoir written by Stephen James Potter & Ann Marie Potter. For years Ann Marie battled with depression and mental illness. After surviving two suicide attempts she began writing a memoir of her experience. After her death, her son Stephen took her many notes and drafts of her story and weaved it in with his own experience of the events.
The goal of the cover design was created to echo the intertwining of their two stories. The black line meant to represent Stephen’s storyline, solid and still living, while the white overlay of the line is meant to echo Ann Marie’s storyline. These two continuous lines weave in and out of each other, together creating the image.
The image of a hummingbird was a symbol of strength and resilience to Ann Marie. The feather on the front cover represents the trail she left behind in both memories and her writings.
The book is available for purchase at Barnes & Noble in both hard and soft cover, as well as on Amazon in soft cover and kindle.
